M.V. Steve Irwin vs Japanese Whalers
March 4th 2008 07:28
ILLEGAL, IMMORAL, INHUMANE and an UNNECESSARY hunt of a protected species!
How good to see Watson and crew on board the 'Steve Irwin' causing havoc for the illegal whaling boats from an arrogant Japan. Even if you don't agree with the methods employed by them, you must agree that it seemed there was no way the trespassers, with the strength of their industry and government behind them, were going to take any notice of anything less than an aggressive affront.
The more aggressive the anti-whaling boats become the more Japan is prepared to cry foul, well, with any luck it will come to a government stand-off. This event will eventually lead to a referendum which anyone would guess will be a huge "Bugger off" to the whalers with all due respect to Japan.
This arrogance is somehow qualified like a necessary evil, it is for money. They say it is traditional, well, so was foot cramping for women.
The more they snub their nose at the enlightened world which is more and more dismayed at their actions, the more they should be dealt with like the illegal hunters that they are.
The hunters of yore who killed Elephants in their thousands for money were no less criminals and yet because the illegal actions of this 'so called' sophisticated society happen in deep ocean territories they get away with it, but not for long.
I hope the next whaling season sees more protest vessels and if all goes well, there may even be an 'Australian government' vessel once again watching over the proceedings.
Those who want to cry foul of the protest ships should watch the exploding tip harpoon do its gruesome job.
More power to civilised society where there are plenty of alternatives to the products that once came from an intelligent, gentle and family oriented assembly of species.
